However, do you know everything there is to know about using these contacts? Here are four things that you should know before you select color contact lenses.

Step 1: Select the Type of Color Contact Lenses According to Your Eye Color

You will select different types of color contact lenses depending whether your eyes are dark or light. If you have light eyes, for example, you may choose enhancement contacts that do not dramatically alter the color of your eyes. In contrast, if your eyes are naturally dark, you will need to choose opaque contacts. They will alter the color of your eyes more than the enhancement contacts. Since your eyes are dark, you will need this dramatic change.

Step 2: Decide on a Color and Hue

Do you want hazel eyes or blue eyes? Decide on a color for your contacts. There are a wide range of colors for contacts on the spectrum. Even within the same color such as green, there are different types of hues and intensities within this one color. For example, some green colors will be matte while others will be bright and vivid.

Step 3: Determine How You Will Use Your Color Contacts

Different types of color contacts will provide you with a variety of uses. How long do you want to wear the lens each day? Some brands are disposable. If you do not want disposable contacts, opt for a different brand that offers longer wear. Additionally, will you be wearing the contacts to correct your vision or are they solely for cosmetic purposes? The type of contacts that you ultimately select will depend on this answer.

Step 4: Get a Prescription From Your Optometrist

Color contacts, even if they are for novelty purposes, require a prescription. This is because they need to be customized to fit the shape of your eye. They are not a cookie cutter eye accessory. Your optometrist needs to measure the curve of you eye so that your contacts will fit comfortably.
